About

Hello, I’m Julia Wolman, a Registered Nutritionist and child feeding specialist based in North London, but I work with people all over the UK.

I first became interested in nutrition and health in my teens. Now, as a freelance registered nutritionist, child feeding expert and mum of two, I support other busy parents to enjoy feeding their families and picky eaters with more confidence and less stress.

Judgement-Free Zone

Whatever your situation and circumstances, I can promise you a safe, judgement-free zone providing reassurance, empathy and guidance based on 20 years of working with parents, carers and families.

I offer you the opportunity to step back and reflect on the food and feeding issues that have brought you to reach out. Setting aside this time and space to talk and be guided by someone who isn’t a partner, friend or relative can be incredibly valuable. And, when we learn how to change our mealtime mindset and expectations - of ourselves and our children - it’s amazing how the rest can very often just fall into place.

My practice aligns with the values and principles of Responsive Feeding which takes into account the ‘how’ of child feeding and eating, rather than just the ‘what’.

With my interest in psychology, and training in Emotionally Aware Feeding (EAF2) plus my knowledge of evidence-based nutrition science, I will work with you create a realistic action plan and support you and your family to build a positive lifelong relationship with food.

You can find me at The Family Food Coach on Facebook and Instagram.

I have twenty years’ experience, including:

  • More than five years with two inner city London NHS Trusts running healthy eating projects for families and training staff at schools, nurseries and Children’s Centres in nutrition.

  • Co-developing and delivering an obesity prevention programme for young children and their families (MEND 2-4s) which is now running across London and internationally.

  • Being one of the first Registered Nutrition Professionals to work with the Early Years Nutrition Partnership.

  • Working with the charities Blood Pressure UK and World Cancer Research Fund UK on a variety of public health nutrition projects.

  • A wide variety of freelance projects across all sectors.

I’m also proud to be a member of two trusted professional bodies:

  • The Association for Nutrition, which holds the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists. (For information about what it means to be a Registered Nutritionist please visit http://www.associationfornutrition.org/).

  • The professional freelance nutritionists’ network SENSE.

I studied for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Human Nutrition at Leeds Metropolitan University between 1994-1998, followed by Psychology and Health at MSc level at City University in London three years later. In 2019 I returned to higher education and was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Food and Health Studies from London Metropolitan University.
